With a rich history ranging from political identifier to counter-culture calling card to status symbol, plaid is one of the most ubiquitous and wide-reaching patterns in the history of clothing. It’s no surprise, then, that plaid should provide a wellspring of design inspiration for the fashion leaders of today, and the pattern was trending on the menswear runways of the Fall 2025 season.
Some brands, like Zegna, Dunhill, and Ami, tapped into the classic sophistication of a wool check suit, while Kidill and Jordanluca drew on the punk legacy of plaid. But Simon Cracker blurred the lines between these two poles, questioning binaries through sophisticated construction and playful layering.
