A new edition of the brand’s cultural platform explores women’s voices across global literature
Miu Miu introduced Literary Club 2025 in Shanghai on November 21, presenting this year’s theme, A Woman’s Education, through the work of Simone de Beauvoir, Fumiko Enchi, and Eileen Chang. First launched in Milan in 2024, the initiative draws on the tradition of literary salons to reflect on women’s lives through writing, underscoring the brand’s continued engagement with contemporary culture. Held at the West Wing of the Shanghai Exhibition Centre, the program centered on conversations about girlhood, love, and education, each rooted in the authors’ seminal texts. Readings and live musical performances rounded out the event, creating an interdisciplinary exchange for an audience of more than 600 guests from cultural, literary, artistic, and fashion communities.
The day began with a discussion of de Beauvoir’s The Inseparables, followed by a panel devoted to Enchi’s The Waiting Years, and concluded with a conversation on Chang’s The Fall of the Pagoda. Across the sessions, scholars and writers examined how these works question longstanding expectations of women and illuminate paths of self-definition. Miu Miu brand ambassadors Li Gengxi, Liu Haocun, and Zhao Jinmai contributed readings, while musicians Lexie Liu and Chen Sijiang performed live. Together, the program offered a reflective, multi-voiced tribute to literary figures whose influence continues to shape global perspectives on womanhood.
