MM6 Maison Margiela and Dr. Martens Reunite for Second Capsule

The latest collaboration reimagines classic DMs through Margiela’s stripped-back, surrealist lens

MM6 Maison Margiela and Dr. Martens have collaborated for a second footwear capsule, this time with a much more stripped-back look. The new release revisits two hybrid silhouettes from their first collaboration, now reworked in an all-white finish that leans into MM6’s minimal, slightly surreal aesthetic.

The styles, one that fuses Dr. Martens’ classic 8-eye 1460 boot with its 3-eye 1461 shoe, and another that combines the 1461 with the more refined Penton loafer, first appeared in darker tones last year. This season, they’ve been reimagined in smooth white leather with tonal stitching, a bump toe, and subtle MM6 branding including the label’s numeric logo embossed at the ankle.

The all-white palette nods to the paint-covered DMs shown in MM6’s Spring/Summer 2025 runway show, where the shoes looked more dipped in plaster than made for walking. Here, the concept gets translated into something wearable, though still unconventional—especially in the case of the 1461/Penton style, which blends the structure of a lace-up with the feel of a slip-on.

Dr. Martens have always walked a line between function and identity. Originally designed as durable work boots, they were later adopted by waves of youth subcultures—punk, goth, grunge—each bringing their own meaning to the silhouette. This collaboration taps into that layered history while pushing the brand into a more conceptual, luxury-adjacent space, without losing what made it iconic in the first place.
