Review of MSGM Fall 2025 Fashion Show

THE VIBE
Graphic boldness. Sheer layering. Optical vibrancy.
For Fall 2025, MSGM founder and creative director Massimo Giorgetti delivers one of the most direct statements of a tenet that has always been central to his brand: “lightness is not superficiality.”
Giorgetti has long been a sincere supporter of Milan’s emerging artists and underground creative scenes, and this creative community led to the partnerships that inform the collection – as well as the choice of location, a soon-to-be cultural hub and gallery in Milan’s Corvetto neighborhood. The designer looked to the work of multidisciplinary artist Albonero (also known by his real name Luca Boffi), who, in addition to many other materials, uses tulle to explore translucency and spaciousness. Distilling this concept, Giorgetti incorporated clever uses of tulle throughout the collection, from external layers on otherwise familiar garments to optically enveloping dresses and skirts.
The second collaboration of the season is with Caterina Frongia, a textile artist who reinterprets the tradition of Italian tapestry and often incorporates a use of text into her work, transforming the written word into a visual narrative. This practice is reconsidered in the collection as jacquard knitwear pieces and graphically printed jersey.
The third key component of the collection is a nod to gorpcore, with riffs on tracksuits, fleeces, and exaggerated utilitarian detailing like drawcord cinches and oversized zippers. These distinct conceptual references do sound like they might not work together entirely harmoniously, and there are definitely some moments when the vision feels less cohesive. But for the most part, Giorgetti manages to make it work, with the sense of wholeness getting a boost from the color scheme of vibrant yellows, pinks, and reds juxtaposed against crisp black and white.

THE WRAP UP
While it would have been nice to see the focus of the collection tightened up and some of its ideas pushed a little further, MSGM’s light touch and vibrant optimism was more than welcome in a season that in some ways has had a somewhat heavy and claustrophobic emphasis on somber-toned classic luxury. It’s also always great to see a celebration of local creative community, and MSGM has once again sparked a unique sense of creative joy.
