Nicole Miller

Spring 2022

“I was researching artists and painters in the 1960’s and discovered the works of American/Polish graphic artist and painter Wojciech Fangor. I was inspired and wanted this presentation to recapture the fearlessness, optimism and uplifting boldness of that time period.” – Nicole Miller, CEO & Creative Director

Nicole Miller unveiled the Spring/Summer 2022 ready-to-wear collection virtually through a short film during New York Fashion Week. A milestone season for the brand as it marks Miller’s 60th appearance at fashion week, the SS22 collection embodies optimism and exuberance for life through the colorful lens of 1960’s inspired silhouettes and prints.

Miller’s creative prism is unleashed through the visually electrifying digital short. Utilizing green-screen technology, in motion models are imposed on a layered backdrop of colored filters that create a symbiotic rhythm between nature and the abstract. Rolling ocean waves, voluminous clouds, moody sunsets, and even melting icebergs represent Miller’s desire to travel the world again in reality-bending naturescapes that highlight the bright color palette and the textural variance of the collection.

This season’s theme is combining nature with abstractions, full of bright psychedelic florals, surreal prints and abstract shapes. The collection highlights include pieces in a kaleidoscope of colors, silk voile, vibrant knitwear, and multi-colored paillettes. A variety of party dresses from short to long feature lace, chain, contrast stitching, sequins, rhinestone and beaded details. Miller continues her modern take on the little black dress showing strong yet feminine elements with open backs, crisscross detailing and cutouts.

“This season is a big departure from last year, where Fall leaned heavily on sportswear which was very much influenced by the state of the world. I wanted to convey feelings of happiness and fun through the colors, textures and prints. It makes you feel alive and re-emerge from being so casual for the last year and a half.” – Nicole Miller, CEO & Creative Director

The film’s credits include: Nicole Miller, Creative Director; Ruslan Pelykh, Director and Photographer; Tom Palmer of PSA Creative, Lead Producer and Art/Music Director; J Errico, Head Stylist; Shane Monden and Sheri Terri, Hair and Make-up. Starring: Kate Vitamin, Charlize Cotton, Giselle Marte, Alexis Brookins, Aviana McClish and Bibi Sharipova.
