Onitsuka Tiger Celebrates 75th Anniversary with Paris and Tokyo Activations
Onitsuka Tiger is marking its 75th anniversary with celebrations in Paris and Tokyo. In Paris, the brand has opened the Hotel Onitsuka Tiger on the Champs-Élysées, hosting cultural, lifestyle, and fashion activities until Aug. 17. The space, housed in an 18th-century palazzo, features Onitsuka Tiger’s signature bright yellow decor.
The Hotel, designed to resemble a hotel but not offering accommodation, will also serve as the location for a new Onitsuka Tiger flagship store set to open in 2025.
Onitsuka Tiger’s CEO, Ryoji Shoda, expressed pride in the brand’s 75th anniversary, emphasizing the blend of tradition and modernity in their products. He stated, “Looking ahead, we are committed to keep launching new projects with passion and ambition to inspire present and future generations.”
The Hotel will host various artists and performers, with an exhibition on archival shoe designs and a photographic showcase. A Yellow Tiger Café on the terrace offers Japanese culinary experiences.
In Tokyo, a second celebration will take place from Aug. 9 to 25, featuring a photographic exhibition of 75 shoe styles, artworks inspired by the brand, and an exclusive capsule collection. The brand’s origins date back to 1949 when founder Kihachiro Onitsuka believed in the power of sports to foster growth and progression for Japanese youth.
Earlier this year, Onitsuka Tiger collaborated with Astro Boy and opened a pop-up store in Tokyo’s Ginza. The brand also showcased its collections at Milan Fashion Week under the creative direction of Andrea Pompilio.
Onitsuka Tiger, a part of Asics Corporation, continues its legacy of innovation and quality as it celebrates 75 years in the industry.
