The focus of any Fall season will almost always be a ‘Great Coat’. Often the most important purchase to help build a wardrobe, coats have had to adapt to a changing climate in which shifting weather patterns require creative solutions.
Cosy textures and cocooning volumes offered a sense of solace and comfort, while furs – whether real or faux – are making a strong return, spurred on by social media aesthetics such as the #mobwife. Classic overcoats in compact wools at Max Mara and Jil Sander used colours such as khaki and navy to update, and trench coats were completely re-worked into 3XL proportions at Vetements and JW Anderson. High- collars will also be the detail to watch as brands from Victoria Beckham to Courrèges, Acne Studios and Sunnei all added the design detail to their outerwear looks.
