Pleats Please Issey Miyake Opens NYC Flagship

The Nolita Store Opening Is Celebrated with an Exclusive Collection

On Thursday, December 12th, Pleats Please Issey Miyake is set to open its new flagship store at 14 Kenmare Street in New York City’s Nolita neighborhood.

Located at the corner of Elizabeth Street and Kenmare Street in the heart of Nolita, the store is on the ground floor of architect Tadao Ando’s first building in New York and his first residential building outside Asia. A quintessential downtown Manhattan neighborhood known for its boutiques, galleries, sidewalk cafés, and restaurants, the location was chosen for its raw industrial feel and bustling energy.

The store, designed by the Japanese firm Moment, occupies 2,224 square feet and boasts 60 feet of street frontage on Kenmare Street. Its design incorporates sharp lines that traverse the space, reflecting the modern, industrial aesthetics of the surrounding area. Features include lighting rails set in shiny steel plates overhead and paneled walls made of white molded resin that mimic the brand’s signature pleats. The design balances rough concrete floors and walls with glossy, milky white surfaces on tabletops and rail structures, setting of the colors of the innovative line and its balance of organic and industrial influence.

To mark the opening, the store will offer an exclusive new collection of pleated tops, skirts, and dresses titled Soil & Leaf. “We invite you to experience the joy of Pleats Please in this space that embodies the lightness of the brand,” shared the brand via an announcement.
