The luxury brand strengthens its connection with K-pop by appointing Aespa’s Karina as its latest global ambassador
Prada has officially announced Karina, the lead member of the South Korean girl group Aespa, as its newest brand ambassador. This move underscores Prada’s commitment to the global K-pop phenomenon, following last year’s appointment of the seven members of Enhypen as brand ambassadors.
Karina made her debut as a Prada ambassador at the men’s Fall 2024 show in Milan, where she garnered attention by wearing a standout shift dress from the brand’s Spring 2024 womenswear collection. Known for her singing and rapping talents, Karina, whose real name is Yu Ji-min, has been a prominent figure in the K-pop scene since Aespa’s debut under SM Entertainment in 2020 with their hit single “Black Mamba.”
Aespa has gained widespread acclaim for their innovative approach to music, blending hyperpop with metaverse-inspired concepts. Their success continued with the release of their first studio album, “Armageddon,” featuring the popular track “Supernova.” Karina’s influence extends beyond Aespa, as she also joined the supergroup Got the Beat, another creation of SM Entertainment, in 2022.
Prada’s ambassador lineup now includes a diverse array of South Korean stars such as Kim Tae-ri, Jeon So-mi, Sana Minatozaki, and Jaehyun, alongside global talents like Harris Dickinson, Damson Idris, and Hunter Schafer. With Karina’s addition, Prada continues to strengthen its ties with the influential K-pop industry.
