Review of Prada Re-Nylon Spring 2024 Ad Campaign by Photographer Willy Vanderperre with models Emma Watson and Benedict Cumberbatch
Prada celebrates the launch of its Spring 2024 Re-Nylon collection with a special campaign that highlights the project’s commitment to ocean restoration and preservation. The campaign was shot by photographer Willy Vanderperre.
Vanderperre turns his lens upon two Prada ambassadors that, in addition to their acting talents and status as cultural figures, have been engaged in environmental and social activism: Emma Watson and Benedict Cumberbatch.
With a spirit of directness and elegance captured before an aquatic backdrop, the portraits function as a way to emphasize the main thrust of the campaign, Prada’s partnership with UNESCO for the Sea Beyond program, which works to raise global awareness on sustainability and ocean literacy principles, educating young generations around the world.
As the Re-Nylon collection is crafted entirely with regenerated nylon – much of which is sourced from waste that has found its way into our oceans – it’s a fitting avenue for the brand to express its commitment to supporting innovations in sustainability as well as design. Though a short film would have been a great way to show some of the process, narrative, and importance behind the project, the images do a great job in emphasizing both the character of the collection and the mission behind it.
