The Allure of Aura
Rahul Mishra’s fall collection delved into a deeply spiritual realm, inspired by concepts of aura and the omnipresent gaze of the divine. Historically drawn to nature and craftsmanship, Mishra this season turned his focus to the metaphysical—pondering the visual manifestation of spiritual energy.
In Hindu mythology, Brahma’s four heads symbolize his omnipresence, and his progeny, Brahmand, is seen as the universe’s creator, radiating an energy akin to an aura. Mishra chose to represent this concept not through traditional colors but through the depth and enigma of black, a nod to the dark energy and matter that fill the cosmos.
This thematic choice was artfully reflected in Mishra’s designs. A standout piece was an ankle-length dress in black and gold, featuring two embroidered faces that seemed to extend the model’s own gaze outward. Another garment, cape-like in form, showcased golden embroidered profiles on either side, enhancing the theme of omnipresence.
Mishra’s use of spiky nylon threads added a tangible sense of an aura encircling each outfit, while his skillful application of metal, glass beads, rhinestones, and sequins crafted a collection that was both introspective and extravagant. Bursts of red and silver, alongside a cape adorned with colorful embroidered flowers, brought vibrant life to the spiritually charged lineup.
