Review of Ray-Ban x A$AP Rocky Ad Campaign with model A$AP Rocky

Ray-Ban’s most classic silhouette gets an experimental twist with the launch of the Wayfarer Puffer, the first release under A$AP Rocky’s creative direction for Ray-Ban Studios. Sculptural, oversized, and saturated with color, the design takes the familiar Wayfarer shape and pushes it in a new direction, merging Harlem street style with runway eccentricity.

Shot entirely in Harlem, the debut campaign is deeply personal. Rocky cast artists and locals from the neighborhood where he grew up, grounding the exaggerated eyewear in a real sense of place. The result is a visual narrative where inflated forms meet the lived experience and where cultural roots shape fashion expression.

The Wayfarer Puffer made its first appearance at the 2025 Met Gala, worn by Rocky in a one-of-one gold edition with diamond rivets, more jewelry than eyewear. A yacht sighting at Cannes followed that couture-level moment, signaling the frame’s red-carpet versatility.

Now officially released, the collection features monochrome black and white editions alongside bold hues such as red, blue, green, pink, and yellow. Each colorway amplifies the silhouette’s playful energy while still carrying the Wayfarer’s signature attitude. Rocky’s influence is evident: this is a design that doesn’t just accessorize, but it asserts.

As Creative Director, Rocky has been recontextualizing. The Wayfarer Puffer isn’t about retro nostalgia or logo-driven hype. It’s more about the volume, character, and cultural authorship. Through this debut, Rocky positions eyewear not as an afterthought but as a focal point of personal style shaped by history, community, and bold design decisions.

Rocky doesn’t just change the frame, he shifts the focus. The view is different now. With the Wayfarer Puffer, he reframes a classic through bold perspective and Harlem-born clarity.
