The second edition centers books by de Beauvoir and Enchi in a tactile, city-specific experience
Miu Miu’s Summer Reads returned for its second edition this past weekend, transforming public parks across Milan, Paris, Beijing, Hong Kong, and Osaka into open-air sanctuaries for reflection and reading. More than a seasonal activation, the initiative continues Miu Miu’s evolving cultural narrative—one that centers literature, artistry, and the power of the female voice.
Visitors were gifted special-edition copies of two carefully chosen novels: The Inseparables by Simone de Beauvoir and The Waiting Years by Fumiko Enchi. Both titles, rich in feminist insight and emotional complexity, arrived wrapped in collectible Miu Miu packaging—each customized by city with a signature color, ex-libris stamp, and accompanying bookmark, reading clip, and bookplate. The effect was both intimate and elevated, transforming the simple act of reading into a tactile and communal experience.
The event’s literary spirit is deeply aligned with Miuccia Prada’s vision for the brand: a platform for dialogue, introspection, and creative exchange. As with Miu Miu’s Women’s Tales film series and its Tales & Tellers salons, Summer Reads reinforces the idea that fashion doesn’t just dress the body—it can also nurture the mind.
By spotlighting authors like de Beauvoir and Enchi—who interrogated gender, memory, and social constraint—Summer Reads invites participants to linger with ideas that continue to shape feminist thought.
