First collection reinterprets designs from Kane’s 2007 debut
Self-portrait, the London-based fashion brand, has previewed images from its first Residency collection, which will be available in stores and online beginning at 8 PM GMT tonight. Christopher Kane, the program’s inaugural Resident Designer, has been working from the brand’s London headquarters to create the collection.
Campaign images of the collection, featuring longtime collaborator Carine Roitfeld, were released today. Shot by Larissa Hofmann at Roitfeld’s Paris home, the images showcase two looks from the collection. The full campaign, with additional cast members, is set to be unveiled next week.
The Residency collection revisits elements of Kane’s 2007 debut collection, blending crystal chainmail, lace ruffles, and satin dresses with bias cuts and detailed lace panels.
To celebrate the launch, Han Chong and Christopher Kane will host an event tonight at Alva Coachworks in London. The gathering will offer guests a behind-the-scenes look at a live campaign shoot, presenting the collection in an immersive setting as it becomes available in stores and online.
The self-portrait Residency program, led by founder and Creative Director Han Chong, is designed to encourage collaboration and individuality by inviting artists from diverse disciplines to design from the brand’s headquarters.
“It has been a joy to work with Han on the brand’s first self-portrait Residency,” Kane said. “The entire process has been an extraordinary experience, made possible by Han and his wonderful teams. I am delighted to have reincarnated my archival collections for this inaugural project, and who better to unveil our new collection than Carine Roitfeld; a big champion since my first collections, and a true fashion icon. I will be forever grateful for her continued support.”
