The Saks-Exclusive Collection Sees the Designer Put Her Spin on Iconic Red Carpet Pieces
Saks and Stella McCartney have joined forces to introduce an exclusive eveningwear capsule, timed to coincide with the archival fashion mindset and red-carpet glamor of this year’s Met Gala.
Dubbed “Stellabration,” the limited-edition collection revisits iconic red carpet dresses from the British designer’s archive, reimagined in midnight tones for Saks. The capsule also features crystal-embellished vegan accessories, including the brand’s renowned Falabella bag and Elsa kitten heels.
Tracy Margolies, chief merchandising officer at Saks Inc., expressed excitement about the collaboration, stating, “Our latest designer collaboration with Stella McCartney is a celebration of iconic luxury fashion, timed perfectly to fashion’s biggest red carpet.” Margolies highlighted the honor of partnering with McCartney to bring this special collection to life exclusively at Saks.
“It makes me a bit emotional to see some of our most iconic Stella red carpet gowns and Falabella bags brought to life again, and to get to share with the world the opportunity to wear these rare, precious pieces, too,” said Stella McCartney. “It’s a true reminder that beautiful, timeless fashion never goes out of style and is true sustainability.”
In line with McCartney’s commitment to sustainability, all items in the capsule were handmade using innovative, cruelty-free alternatives.
Key looks in the collection include high-necked column dresses crafted from transparent, lead-free crystal mesh, inspired by custom Stella McCartney designs worn by Julia Garner at the Met Gala 2021. The capsule also features a figure-hugging, long-sleeve gown in soft blue forest-friendly viscose cady, reminiscent of a Beyoncé look from the Vanity Fair Oscar Party in 2015.
To mark the launch, the Saks flagship in New York will showcase the collection in its Fifth Avenue windows and offer visual installations on the main and third floors until May 18. Additionally, a private event was hosted in New York on Sunday night to celebrate the collaboration.
The “Stellabration” capsule will be available for purchase on Saks.com and at select Saks Fifth Avenue stores starting Monday, May 6, the day of the Met Gala.
