After Five Years of Partnership, the Designer Has Reacquired LVMH’s Minority Stake in Her Brand
Stella McCartney has repurchased the minority stake in her fashion brand previously held by LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, the company announced. The move comes after over five years of collaboration between McCartney and the luxury conglomerate.
LVMH issued a statement explaining that McCartney’s decision marks the beginning of a “new chapter” for her, allowing her to independently pursue further developments in her brand after enhancing its “fundamentals and governance” in partnership with the group.
During her time working with LVMH, McCartney also contributed as a consultant on sustainability for the company’s management, including its founder Bernard Arnault. Despite the buyback, she will maintain her role as a Global Ambassador on Sustainability to LVMH, continuing to provide guidance on environmental issues to Arnault and his team.
LVMH acquired the stake in McCartney’s company in 2019, a strategic move that followed her previous partnership with Kering, another major player in the luxury sector. Under LVMH’s umbrella, McCartney intensified her efforts in fabric and supply chain innovation, and collaborated with other LVMH brands to promote material upcycling and waste reduction.
