British Fashion Council reveals first wave of nominees ahead of December ceremony at Royal Albert Hall.
The stage is set for the 2025 Fashion Awards, returning to London’s Royal Albert Hall on December 1. Leading the headline category of Designer of the Year are Jonathan Anderson, Martine Rose, Miuccia Prada, Glenn Martens, Rick Owens, and Willy Chavarria — a lineup that reflects both established influence and uncompromising individuality.
The nominations were unveiled by the British Fashion Council, with a voting panel of 19 industry voices from media and retail shaping this year’s shortlist. Alongside the top honor, the BFC has also announced contenders for British Womenswear Designer of the Year, British Menswear Designer of the Year, and Vanguard, a new category that merges the New Establishment awards for womenswear and menswear into a single recognition of rising creative power.
For womenswear, Sarah Burton, Simone Rocha, and Erdem Moralıoğlu join Emma Chopova and Laura Lowena of Chopova Lowena, as well as Charlotte Knowles and Alexandre Arsenault of Knwls. On the menswear side, Craig Green, Grace Wales Bonner, Nicholas Daley, Kiko Kostadinov, Foday Dumbuya of Labrum London, and Stefan Cooke with Jake Burt round out a strong field that underscores London’s ongoing leadership in shaping global menswear narratives.
The Vanguard category highlights the next wave of visionaries, with Aaron Esh, Dilara Fındıkoğlu, Feben, Steve O Smith, Tolu Coker, and Torishéju Dumi — a group whose collective energy has already captured significant industry attention, from prize wins to runway acclaim.
This year marks the first Fashion Awards under Laura Weir, the British Fashion Council’s new chief executive officer. The event remains the primary fundraiser for the BFC Foundation, with proceeds directed toward supporting emerging talent and the future of British fashion. Pandora returns as headline sponsor, with further award announcements — including Trailblazer and Leaders of Change — expected in the months leading up to the ceremony.
