Notable Debuts Bianca Saunders And VTMNTS Join An Expansive Roster, With Physical Shows Expected But Still Not Confirmed
France’s Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode has officially confirmed the schedule for Fall 2022 Paris Men’s Fashion Week, which is set to run from January 18th through the 23rd. The calendar features 77 houses, up from last season’s 72, including 18 newcomers. 42 shows and 35 presentations are planned across the six days.
Notable recent confirmations include the first ever show from VTMNTS – the new genderless offshoot from Vetements, which is recently under the creative directorship of Guram Gvasalia – and 2021 ANDAM Fashion Prize winner Bianca Saunders making her Paris Men’s debut.
Also making their on-schedule show debut are Amiri, Doublet, French designer duo Florentin Glémarec and Kévin Nompeix’s Egonlab, who took away the ANDAM’s Pierre Bergé Prize; American designer Colm Dillane’s art-inspired streetwear label Kidsuper; Danish waterproof contemporary brand Rains, and Bluemarble.
The final day of shows will include the first collection from Kenzo under the creative directorship of Nigo, the streetwear legend who founded cult brand A Bathing Ape.
New names on the presentation calendar are Lukhanyo Mdingi, one of three recipients of the Karl Lagerfeld Special Jury Prize at this year’s LVMH Prize, American labels Airei and Winnie, Liberal Youth Ministry, Taiwanese label Namesake, Singaporean design collective Youths in Baclava, and French designer Steven Passaro.
Notable absences from the preliminary calendar include J.W. Anderson, who was set to show in his homebase London a week before the just cancelled London Fashion Week, and Thom Browne.
The Fédération have yet to share any details on which shows (if any) will be physical, though we can expect that following in Milan’s footsteps, the week will comprise a hybrid format, with many of the leading houses staging physical shows.
