Review of Thom Browne Football 2022 Ad Campaign by Photographer Sinna Nasseri and Jacq Harriet
Thom Browne heads to Notre Dame for his annual football game. The seasonal campaign was shot by photographers Sinna Nasseri and Jacq Harriet.
A tradition since 2014, Thom Browne’s football game typically casts celebrities and creatives who are friends of the brand or part of its creative ecosystem. This year, however, Notre Dame students take on the roles of players, spectators, and cheerleaders. Held on the south quad of Thom’s alma mater, the match between teams gray and navy celebrates the family traditions and collegiate culture that remain central to his creative direction.
The campaign imagery captures the thrill of the game in action, with the collection’s vintage sporting and collegiate motifs combining with the setting and casting to create a sort of contemporary nostalgia for college traditions and friendly togetherness.
It’s nice to see Thom Browne continuing to find new ways to look at the Thanksgiving tradition of its football capsule. The collaboration with the designer’s alma mater feels like a sort of homecoming – this is, after all, the first Thanksgiving and holiday season that many of us will be able to spend with loved ones in a few years. Thom Browne synthesizes nostalgia and newness to celebrate this moment with fun and cozy style.
