Review of Tom Ford Spring 2024 Ad Campaign by Creative Director Peter Hawkings with Photographer Robin Galiegue and models Jeanne Cadieu, Alaato Jazyper, Dara Gueye, Ilias Loopmans, and Eva Komuves
Tom Ford’s first campaign under the creative direction of Peter Hawkings is a confident continuation of the designer and brand’s signature spirit of slick sensuality and glamor. The Spring 2024 campaign was shot by photographer Robin Galiegue.
Tom Ford the designer may be out at Tom Ford, but his vision of seductive opulence lives on. New creative director Peter Hawkings’ debut at the brand was less of a new chapter and more of a reminder that the influential designer’s legacy is in good hands, and now its campaign puts a slick and atmospheric spin on that iconic vision.
Captured in both black and white and an evocative silvery green tone, Galiegue’s portraits draw aesthetic inspiration from the fashion imagery of the mid-60s, and in particular the work of Donyale Luna in collaboration with the likes of Andy Warhol and Richard Avedon. Aloof behind their dark shades, the models lounge in a mid-mod interior or stride confidently through the moodily lit hallways.
The accompanying short film sets these portraits in motion, offering a closer look at the 70s-inspired detailing of the collection, while an atmospheric synth soundtrack pushes the sense of mood.
Though we’re still waiting to see how Peter Hawkings will take the brand forward, the campaign is a reminder to its fans that the spirit of Tom Ford isn’t going anywhere.
