While menswear has proven to offer the fastest-growing segment of the overall fashion market in the last five years, the integrity of the communication for many fashion houses still falls far short of the women’s and accessories categories. That being said a number of design houses have stepped up their efforts and are worth high praise in creating The Impression’s Top 10 Men’s Ad Campaigns of 2019.
Fabien Baron and the team at Baron & Baron have taken both Boss and Zara Man’s to levels that have raised the bar for the menswear industry offered the strongest fashion films of the season. This year we saw Virgil Abloh launch Louis Vuitton Men’s communication messages with a three-part story for spring and a two-parter for fall, while the house hasn’t landed on a uniformed message just yet the experimentation is admirable. Always the experimenter, Raf Simons continues to impress and fight giants above his weight class offering stellar campaigns lensed by Willy Vanderperre. Perhaps the most unique campaign of the year was developed to showcase the collaboration between Valentino Men’s and Undercover. The new-age alien inspired campaign was rife with both throwbacks and futurism and showed the being forward in men’s can help the overly conservative category to stand out.
