PROS
Concept-Driven, Yet Approachable – The “twist” theme was smartly executed in both design and fabrication, making it meaningful without being overly conceptual.
Commercially Smart Without Feeling Safe – A collection that offers retail appeal without losing creative direction.
Well-Balanced Between Art & Function – Elements like twisted seams, sculptural draping, and illusion fabrics added depth while remaining wearable.
Cons
Lacked a Singular, Viral Standout Moment – The collection was strong overall, but it didn’t necessarily have one defining, headline-grabbing piece.

THE VIBE

The collection embodied effortless utility and felt timeless, yet ever-evolving

The Showstopper

For Fall 2025, Tory Burch reimagined American sportswear with a subtle yet compelling twist—both figuratively and literally. Set against the backdrop of the Museum of Modern Art, a fitting stage for a collection that felt at once familiar yet redefined, Burch struck an impressive balance: clothes that feel special enough to covet, yet grounded enough to fit seamlessly into a modern wardrobe.

Burch’s starting point for the season was “the twist”, a concept she explored with depth and precision. The idea surfaced in twisted seams, sculptural draping, and textural techniques, such as embroidered marbling that mimicked natural movement. The twist extended beyond form into fabrication—a study in illusion, where pieces appeared straightforward from afar but revealed intricate depth upon closer inspection.

The collection was rooted in pragmatism but elevated with intention.

A leather handbag jacket, which appeared throughout the show, captured this ethos perfectly—an elegant yet functional design that frees women from the need to carry a bag. It was a thoughtful approach to fashion that prioritized both utility and ease, reinforcing the idea that true liberation comes from being unencumbered.

This season’s tailoring was equally sharp, with silhouettes that exuded confidence and ease. Skirts twisted in their construction, heels followed suit, and outerwear played with unexpected proportions—all while maintaining the wearability that defines Burch’s approach to modern dressing. The collection felt sporty, contemporary, and deeply considered—a seamless blend of innovation and familiarity.

Burch’s attention to detail extended beyond design into symbolism and storytelling. The collection featured brooches inspired by Madeleine Albright, a woman who famously used jewelry to communicate her mood and stance on issues. Here, Burch took that idea and applied it as both a decorative and structural element, shaping garments and accessories in a way that was both beautiful and practical. Even the smallest details—like the unexpected mouse motif, which started as an inside joke before making its way into the final lineup—reflected the lightness and wit that underpinned the collection.

“I was thinking about how women layer into their wardrobes today,” Burch shared. “We want to buy something and have it last forever.” That philosophy was evident in every aspect of this collection—designed not for a single moment, but for the long game, evolving with the wearer over time.

THE QUOTE

I started with the concept of twisted American classics… I experimented extensively with fabrication, wanting materials that invite a second glance—pieces that appear straightforward at first, but reveal deeper complexity up close. I was thinking about how women build their wardrobes today—we invest in pieces meant to last, to evolve with us over time. Women are the answer, and when they get dressed, they want to look chic and beautiful, but also feel powerful. That balance is something I spent a great deal of time considering.

THE WRAP UP

By embracing the familiar and the unexpected in equal measure, Burch delivered a collection that felt timeless yet contemporary, practical yet artistic. At a time when consumers are more selective about investment pieces, this was an offering that felt instinctively right—clothes meant to be worn, kept, and layered into a life well lived.

With Fall 2025, Tory Burch reinforced that her vision for American fashion isn’t just about revisiting the classics—it’s about twisting them into something entirely new.
