Valentino Revives ‘L’Atelier Sonore’ Listening Room With Suzanne Ciani in New York

Sound Installation Returns to Madison Avenue Boutique With Live Performance and Expanded Activations

Maison Valentino is reopening its sound-focused installation, L’Atelier Sonore, at its Madison Avenue boutique in New York, marking the project’s second chapter in collaboration with Terraforma, the Milan-based cultural collective founded by Ruggero Pietromarchi. Originally launched in May, the listening space will return on July 31 with a live double session by electronic music pioneer Suzanne Ciani at 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

The boutique’s mezzanine level will once again be reconfigured into an immersive listening environment shaped around Valentino Creative Director Alessandro Michele’s evolving vision for the brand. Designed for low-stimulation and focused listening, the space includes a custom sound system and is curated by Terraforma, with soundscapes composed by Giorgio Di Salvo.

Ciani’s performance follows the sonic room’s debut earlier this spring and precedes additional activations scheduled for September 2025. In line with the original concept, the setting aims to create a meditative pause from the city’s pace—what Valentino describes as “a space for deep listening and quiet contemplation.”

The room’s purpose is both experiential and conceptual. “Through its understated yet meticulous design, the space acts as both refuge and resonator — a vessel for the ever-shifting interplay between sound, material, and human connection.”

The initiative reflects a continued emphasis by Valentino on cultural programming and multi-sensory engagement. As the label puts it: “With L’Atelier Sonore, Maison Valentino reaffirms its commitment to crafting meaningful cultural experiences that blend aesthetic vision, emotional resonance, and contemporary dialogue through bold creative partnerships.”

With its combination of architecture, acoustics, and avant-garde programming, the project marks another step in Michele’s broader reimagining of Valentino—not just as a fashion house, but as a cultural platform.
