Versace Unveils Pivot Bag

A New Accessory Builds On House Codes As The Brand Moves Through A Creative Transition

Versace is introducing the Pivot Bag, a new accessory first unveiled as part of its Spring 2026 runway collection, marking one of the clearest product expressions of the house’s current transitional moment.

The collection, presented last September during Milan Fashion Week, signaled a shift in direction under former creative lead Dario Vitale, who drew on Gianni Versace’s 1980s legacy while introducing a more streamlined, contemporary sensibility. That moment of change was short-lived—Vitale departed after a single season and was succeeded by Pieter Mulier, who is set to begin his tenure in July.

The Pivot Bag emerges from that interlude, reflecting a blend of archival reference and updated design codes. Central to the piece is the Medusa emblem, reinterpreted as a cameo-style leather patch, paired with a chain detail that introduces a more jewelry-like dimension to the silhouette.

The Medusa motif itself draws directly from the one found on the door of Via Gesù 12 in Milan, the historic home of the house and its original atelier, reinforcing the connection to Versace’s origins.

Balancing statement with functionality, the bag is designed for versatility, shifting between shoulder and top-handle carry. It is offered in two sizes and multiple finishes, including bicolor leather and suede combinations as well as monochrome versions. Each is constructed in leather with lambskin lining, aligning with the brand’s emphasis on material richness.

Arriving in stores and online this week, the Pivot Bag enters the market at a moment when Versace is recalibrating both creatively and strategically. As the house prepares for Mulier’s debut, the design stands as a transitional object—bridging past references with a renewed focus on product and identity.
