The Collection Reimagines the Brand’s Imaginative Approach to Couture for an Expressive yet Functional Daily Wardrobe
Viktor & Rolf have announced their return to ready-to-wear and unveiled the Fall 2025 collection. The collection, which embodies the brand’s ‘Minimal Baroque’ style, reimagines its iconic approach to couture across clothing that is designed with daily life in mind.
The inspiration for this transition is drawn both from Viktor & Rolf’s past collections and the demands of contemporary lifestyles. This season’s offerings combine the grandeur of their Fall 2024 Couture collection ‘Haute Abstraction’ with the functionality required for daily tasks – from work engagements to casual outings. Key pieces include sculpturally deconstructed wardrobe staples, seamlessly blending intricate tailoring with relaxed components like denim and functional outerwear through a collaboration with Mackintosh.
The designers emphasized that their foray into ready-to-wear does not compromise the expressive boldness of their designs but rather adapts it to enhance everyday dressing. “Everyday life is full of contrasts – moving through different spaces and situations that define us,” the brand stated, highlighting the versatility and dynamic nature of the collection.
Signature couture details such as dramatic ruffles and sculptural draping are reimagined in the context of wearability, featuring in items ranging from balloon trousers crafted from Japanese tuxedo wool to denim adaptations, with color palettes that shift from stark blacks and greys to soft whites, mint, and sky-blue. Moreover, the collection revisits archival designs with modern interpretations, such as the layered and cloned effects seen in previous collections, while introducing luxurious materials like Italian silk satin and organic cotton denim.
The collection is unveiled through a portrait series captured by photographer Alessandro Furchino Capria against the backdrop of Parisian streets.
