Review of Vivienne Westwood Fall 2024 Ad Campaign by Creative Director Dovile Drizyte and Photographer Juergen Teller with models Andreas Kronthaler, Hamaam Pelewura, Harry Browse, Kristen McMenamy, and Tiana Mohammed
As seen by creative director Andreas Kronthaler, the wild world of Vivienne Westwood continues to expand, and it’s a beautiful chaos to behold. The brand’s newest campaign for Fall 2024 was photographed by frequent collaborator Juergen Teller with creative direction from Kronthaler in collaboration with Dovile Drizyte.
Juergen deploys his signature spontaneous and lo-fi style to photographing an eclectic cast of Westwood muses – among them iconic model Kristen McMenamy and Kronthaler himself. Equally eclectic is the choice of settings for the portraits, from a grotto in a London park to seedy hotel rooms and artists’ lofts to the top of a parking garage where spectacularly dressed characters pose on motorcycles framed by the city’s brutalist apartment blocks.
Off-the-cuff art direction finishes the images with either a hand-scrawled version of Westwood’s iconic orb or Andreas Kronthaler’s initials – the first time his creative hand has pointed itself out so directly in the brand’s campaign communications.
In the many years since the founding of the brand by its legendary eponymous designer, Vivienne Westwood has never lost its punk side. Balancing avant-garde expression with an inclusive and unpretentious spirit, this campaign proves that this legacy is in good hands.
