The Carolina Herrera Creative Director Will Be Honored for his Achievements in Luxury Fashion
Wes Gordon, the creative director of Carolina Herrera, is set to be honored with the SCAD Étoile Award at an event in Atlanta on the night of Thursday, April 11th, recognizing his achievements in the luxury fashion sector.
The ceremony is part of The Savannah College of Art and Design’s SCADstyle2014, a four-day event spanning from Monday to Wednesday in Savannah and from Wednesday to Thursday in Atlanta, which gathers leaders in design and lifestyle for discussions and engagements.
Paula Wallace, the president and founder of SCAD, will present Gordon with the award, followed by an interview conducted by fashion journalist and curator Stefano Tonchi, delving into Gordon’s career trajectory.
Past recipients of this prestigious award include Reese Witherspoon, Catherine Deneuve, Carolina Herrera, David Yurman, Jonathan Adler, and Pierre Cardin.
Gordon, who completed his education at Central St. Martins in London in 2009, initially established his eponymous designer collection before joining Carolina Herrera as a creative consultant in 2017. He assumed the role of creative director for Herrera in 2018.
Among the notable guests attending SCADstyle this week in Savannah are Francesco Risso, the creative director of Marni; Hillary Taymour, the founder and creative director of Collina Strada; Craig Robins, the cofounder of Design Miami; Ludovic de Saint Sernin, a fashion designer; and George Yabu, the chief creative officer of Glossier, among others.
Additionally, the event will spotlight the university’s alumni during the Alumni Voices panel on Thursday, featuring Emily Smith (B.F.A. fashion, 2001), creative director of Lafayette 148 New York; Kan Ando (B.F.A., fashion, 2010), senior designer at Nike; and Lulu LaFortune (B.F.A., fashion, 2010), a furniture and lighting designer. In celebration of the university’s 45th anniversary, these individuals will be honored with the SCAD45 Alumni Award for their outstanding contributions to their respective fields and for exemplifying the impact of a SCAD education.
