Willy Chavarria explores roots, community, and identity with his new Fall 2024 campaign, captured by photographer Diego Bendezu.
Fresh off his biggest New York Fashion Week yet and being named as the CFDA’s American Menswear Designer of the Year for the second year in a row, Chavarria continues to build on this success with the expansive new campaign.
The imagery takes shape as a series of portraits featuring a large cast that includes industry talents like Carlos Nazario and Paloma Elsesser, as well as Italian pop star Mahmood, and recurring faces and friends from the brand’s community. While at first glance it might feel more like a lookbook, a closer look reveals a striking level of detail and a strong sense of identity created through the intersection of the cast, the collection, and the set design. The interior shots take us back in time to unassuming apartments, offices, and chapels, while numerous details speak to the Mexican-American culture that so richly informs Chavarria’s design work. The collection itself continues these themes while further incorporating an oversized flair for the dramatic, with black leather, open collars, houndstooth, loafers, and track suits creating a journey of intercultural exchange through style.
Fusing a nostalgic look at his domestic roots with a fiercely progressive sense of inclusivity and expression, Willy Chavarria offers another multifaceted portrait of one of America’s most exciting and relevant new design visions.
