Willy Chavarria Collaborates with Dickies for Elevated Workwear Line

Marrying utilitarian roots with contemporary design, the collection is a nod to both brands’ enduring legacies.

Fashion aficionado Willy Chavarria, celebrated for fusing workwear elements seamlessly with streetwear aesthetics, has now partnered with iconic workwear brand Dickies. This capsule collection reinterprets the classic Dickies essentials — like work shirts, pants, and jackets — and will be retailed at Bergdorf Goodman, in addition to the online platforms of both Dickies and Chavarria.

This unique amalgamation celebrates Dickies’ enduring practical design while incorporating the sleek and refined signature style of Chavarria, repositioning classic Dickies outfits for the modern fashion enthusiast.

Chavarria’s tryst with the workwear genre isn’t new. He inaugurated his multibrand menswear outlet, Palmer Trading Company, in New York’s SoHo district back in 2010, where he showcased vintage collections and timeless American workwear, including brands like Filson and Dickies. His profound association with Dickies further blossomed in 2014 when he played a pivotal role in the launch of “Construct,” a premium segment by Dickies, aligning with the rising affinity for sophisticated workwear. Since then, collaborations have prominently featured in every collection of his eponymous brand.

For Chavarria’s audience, workwear items have steadily solidified their place in their wardrobes. These durable, affordable pieces present a perennial alternative to the ever-evolving fashion trends.

Growing up, I adorned Dickies and later drew immense inspiration from it. Few brands can boast of such a global stature and profound cultural significance as Dickies. For me, the pinnacle of elegance will forever be epitomized by a pristine pair of Dickies trousers paired with a sharp white tee.

The curated collection, comprising nine distinct pieces, accentuates Chavarria’s meticulous craftsmanship. It encompasses oversized bomber jackets, structured shirts, wide-leg cargo pants, and finely tailored shorts, to name a few. Each item, crafted in a muted color scheme of black and beige, subtly sports co-branded labels. Standout items include the Wide Leg Trouser, a harmonious blend of the original Dickies 874 and Chavarria’s runway designs, and a refreshed shorts version, which skillfully pays tribute to Dickies’ streetwear essence.
