Zara Reopens Its First-Ever Store in A Coruña to Mark 50th Anniversary

Featuring a custom café, commemorative collection, and archival touchpoints, the revamped store captures the brand’s legacy

Zara is celebrating its 50th anniversary with the relaunch of its original store in A Coruña, Spain—the same location where the brand first opened on May 10, 1975. The Calle Juan Flórez shop has undergone a full redesign by Zara’s in-house architects, who transformed the space into an experiential destination that merges local heritage with fashion innovation.

This newly revamped 3,780-square-foot store features two entrances and introduces the Zacaffè concept, launched last year, where visitors can enjoy a coffee in bespoke cups designed by Ramdane Touhami. Inspired by A Coruña’s maritime charm and iconic “galerías” (glassed-in balconies), the interior evokes a stroll through the port city with oak floors, Galician granite, and quiet seating nooks.

To commemorate the milestone, the store features limited-edition items, including a T-shirt listing 50 models featured in a new anniversary film by Steven Meisel. There’s also a special 100-piece collection inspired by the film, blending tuxedo tailoring with lace, satin, and mesh in a striking black-and-white palette. Dresses, leather pants, suits, shoes, and accessories are included.

A scroll-like installation documents Zara’s history, and an interactive screen maps its global expansion. While the brand now operates more than 2,000 stores and brings in €28 billion annually, this A Coruña location brings the focus back to its roots—a tribute to the local culture that helped shape one of fashion’s most influential names.
