Zegna Reveals New Executive Structure as Fourth Generation Takes the Helm

The Group introduces a new leadership model as Gildo Zegna becomes Executive Chairman

Ermenegildo “Gildo” Zegna

Ermenegildo Zegna N.V. announced a significant leadership restructuring for the Ermenegildo Zegna Group and the Zegna brand, set to take effect on January 1, 2026. The changes, the result of an extensive succession planning process by the Board of Directors, are designed to guide the Group into its next phase while preserving its long-standing family heritage.

Ermenegildo “Gildo” Zegna, currently Group Chairman and CEO, will transition into the role of Group Executive Chairman. In this position, he will concentrate on safeguarding the legacy and strategic integrity of the Group’s three brands—Zegna, Thom Browne, and Tom Ford Fashion—while continuing to drive long-term value. He will retain oversight of the Group’s Textile Division, the Group General Counsel’s office, and the External Relations department, which encompasses sustainability, investor relations, and corporate communications.

Gianluca Tagliabue

Gianluca Tagliabue, currently Group Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer, has been appointed Group CEO, pending shareholder approval. Working closely with the Group Executive Chairman, Tagliabue will lead the development and execution of the Group’s long-term strategy, oversee business performance across brands, and further integrate the Group’s corporate functions. He will also preside over manufacturing operations, with the CEOs of all Group brands reporting directly to him. Gian Franco Santhià, presently Group Control and Chief Accounting Officer, will be promoted to Group CFO.

A new era begins for the Zegna brand itself, with fourth-generation family members Edoardo and Angelo Zegna named Co-CEOs. They succeed Gildo Zegna, who held the role for over two decades. Edoardo Zegna, currently Chief Marketing and Digital Officer of Zegna and Group Chief Sustainability Officer, will lead brand image, marketing, and design matters alongside Artistic Director Alessandro Sartori. Angelo Zegna, now CEO of Zegna’s EMEA region and Global Client Strategy Director, will oversee product development, merchandising, and global commercial strategy.

Edoardo and Angelo Zegna

Reflecting on the announcement, Gildo Zegna said: “One of the most important responsibilities of a leader is to think ahead—to prepare for the future and empower the next generation. This belief has always been deeply rooted in our family values. Gianluca has been a cornerstone of our Group over the past decade, leading key transformations with a deep understanding of our heritage. Edoardo and Angelo’s complementary strengths will make them an effective team to lead Zegna into its next chapter. As Executive Chairman, I will continue to serve as a custodian of our brands’ vision and values, and oversee the textile platform—where it all began.”

The restructuring strengthens the Group’s commitment to continuity, family leadership, and long-term strategic growth, positioning Zegna, Thom Browne, and Tom Ford Fashion for the next chapter in the company’s ongoing evolution.
