Review of Saint Laurent Fall 2022 Ad Campaign by Creative Director Anthony Vaccarello with Photographer Gray Sorrenti with Talent Zoë Kravitz, Hailey Bieber, Dominic Fike, Awar Odhiang, Konrad Bauer, Finn Wolfhard, and more
by Aidel Townsley
A sleepily romantic and mournful campaign, Saint Laurent presents their Fall 2022 campaign by Anthony Vaccarello and filmed by Gray Sorrenti. Shot in black and white, and featuring famous faces such as Zoë Kravitz, Hailey Bieber, Dominic Fike, Awar Odhiang, Konrad Bauer, Finn Wolfhard, and more, the campaign includes a short film featuring Arjun’s ‘Lay Me Down.’
Opening slowly to pale and metallic polished hands stretched and gripping themselves, touch emerges as the fabrics of the collection, including fur coats, vinyl pants, and leather jackets, become sensorily alive. Dreamy longing and sensuous understanding comes through as eyes close to the sway of the music.
Smokily enhanced stares embrace the camera’s lens as the models move between being known and being lost in their own experience. Light and darkness contrast just as intensely as backgrounds fluctuate in opposition to the clothes’ shade.
Model Alaato Jazyper is featured wrapped up in an oversized Sherpa and leather coat, shrinking behind her collar and expressively capturing the campaign’s vulnerable and sensory vibration. Shape and texture are enhanced by the lethargic and heartfelt movements and emotions of the models. The campaign captures loneliness, comfort, and harmony, for Fall 2022
