Review of Skims Fall 2024 Ad Campaign by Photographer & Director Vanessa Beecroft with Talent Olivia Munn
Raising its voice for breast cancer awareness month, Skims spotlights the stories of survivors with a new bra campaign starring Olivia Munn. The campaign, directed and photographed by Vanessa Beecroft, Skims’ longtime creative partner, highlights Munn’s personal experience with breast cancer and spotlights Skims’ partnership with the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
In Beecroft’s minimal portraiture, Munn models selections from Skims’ bra selection, including its signature Ultimate Nipple Bra. But the most impactful images are those where her mastectomy scars are visible, bravely pointing to the need for more conversation around breast cancer, the need for early detection screenings, and the realities faced by survivors.
“It’s an honor to partner with Skims’ and Susan G. Komen on this incredible campaign. This cause is deeply personal to me, and I’m proud to help drive awareness and conversation around it,” said Munn. “Skims’ commitment to empowerment and community aligns perfectly with the message of this campaign, which is all about confidence, comfort, and feeling your best self. That’s exactly how I felt shooting this.”
Earlier this year, Munn publicly shared her battle with breast cancer, encouraging women to take action with early detection through the Breast Cancer Risk Assessment test. Her story garnered global attention, significantly increasing traffic to the Breast Cancer Risk Assessment Tool, according to the National Cancer Institute.
In addition of the philanthropic impact of using its platform to champion causes that are leading the fight against breast cancer, the partnership is another incredibly smart move from Skims in terms of emphasizing its values and community.
