Alexander Wang flexes out in its latest Bodywear campaign, which was shot by photographer Jamie Morgan.
The campaign stars controversial internet personality Lana Rhoades, who is the latest to join Alexander Wang’s eclectic and glamorous gang of trendy fashion misfits who have graced the brand’s recent series of campaigns.
In keeping with the bodywear campaigns’ clever idea of proving that these pieces can be worn to do literally anything, Rhoades embarks on a surrealist range of activities – cutting a watermelon with a chainsaw, roasting weenies, crushing a basketball with her bare hands, lifting up a hunky man – which are captured with overtones of strength and sensuality. The studio images are finished off with the line’s fitting slogan “whenever. wherever.” and the brand’s logo.
The ongoing bodywear campaign approach feels like a fun throwback to the kinds of consistent and minimal editorial campaigns we would see from American heritage and sportswear brands in the 90s, but with a digital-age spin. It’s a smart approach for an underwear and basics line with a sexy-cool attitude, and Alexander Wang executes it with precision and humor.
