The Actor and Fashion Icon Will Lead the Night in Celebrating American Fashion’s Leading Voices
Anne Hathaway has been announced as the host for the 2023 CFDA Fashion Awards, which will take place the night of Monday, November 6th at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City. The actor and style icon is stepping in for Sarah Jessica Parker, who was set to host but is unable to due to “unforeseen circumstances.”
“The CFDA is thrilled that Anne, a native New Yorker and a performer with extensive experience in theater and film, has agreed to host the 2023 CFDA Fashion Awards presented by Amazon Fashion,” said Steven Kolb, CFDA CEO. “We are looking forward to her bringing her infectious energy and charm to the CFDA stage on November 6th.” Hathaway will also be presenting the Womenswear Designer of the Year Award alongside designer Narciso Rodriguez.
In addition to awards for American Womenswear Designer of the Year, American Menswear Designer of the Year, American Accessory Designer of the Year, and American Emerging Designer of the Year, the winners of which will be named at the ceremony, the CFDA is set to honor a number of fashion trailblazers and sustainability innovators.
Jonathan Anderson will be awarded the International Designer of the Year for his work at both his namesake label and at Loewe.
Gwyneth Paltrow will be awarded the CFDA’s second-ever Innovation Award for her brand Goop, following in the footsteps of Kim Kardashian who was honored with the award last year for her brand Skims.
Tennis legend (and fashion icon) Serena Williams will be honored with the Fashion Icon award. “Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve used fashion as an outlet to express myself,” said Williams in a statement responding to the honor. “I have had so much fun learning my style and allowing it to change as my life has evolved, but I’ve always held one thing true – fashion is for everyone, no matter your size, race, or income.”
Other honorees include Vera Wang with the Board of Directors’ Tribute for her impact on the bridal category, while Maria Cornejo, who is celebrating 25 years in business this year, will receive the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award. The Founder’s Award in honor of Eleanor Lambert is going to Domenico De Sole, former Gucci Group (now Kering) CEO and Tom Ford International chairman, and the Environmental Sustainability Award will be presented to designer Mara Hoffman.
