Anrealage and Sarah Andelman Revisit 25 Collections in Paris

The free Galerie Perrotin exhibition brings together 25 of Kunihiko Morinaga’s Paris collections through fashion, technology, immersive installations, and a Sarah Andelman-curated shop

Anrealage and Sarah Andelman are joining forces during Paris Fashion Week for JUST AN REAL AGE, a free exhibition at Galerie Perrotin that brings together 25 of the Japanese label’s Paris collections. Running from October 2 through 5, the project combines Andelman’s JUST AN IDEA platform with the experimental universe of Anrealage founder Kunihiko Morinaga, tracing more than a decade of the designer’s work in Paris.

The exhibition spans the collections from Spring 2015’s SHADOW through Spring 2027’s SKIN, revisiting Anrealage’s ongoing experimentation with the relationship between clothing, technology, light, and perception. Recent examples include pieces incorporating E Ink Prism technology, which uses electronic paper elements capable of changing color, with select designs from the SKIN collection included in the exhibition.

Rather than presenting the archive as a conventional retrospective, JUST AN REAL AGE emphasizes the processes behind the clothes. An educational section allows visitors to examine and handle material samples drawn from past collections, while a darkened projection room revisits runway experiments through programmed sequences of shifting colors, patterns, and light.

Two immersive installations push those ideas further. In one, a mechanical arm interacts with a long white faux-fur coat as it appears to progressively turn pink. Another explores movement and optical transformation through rotating three-dimensional dresses and garments covered in screen-like scales that change according to electronic programming. Together, the environments foreground the sense of metamorphosis that has become a recurring element of Morinaga’s practice.

Andelman brings her own curatorial language to the project through a compact retail component organized around the 26 letters of the alphabet. Each letter corresponds to an object, collaboration, or discovery, alongside a selection of Anrealage ready-to-wear. Among the offerings is SONGS FOR ANREALAGE, a vinyl release featuring two tracks composed by Thomas Bangalter for the label’s Fall 2025 SCREEN collection and its Spring 2026 collection created with Heralbony.

The collaboration makes for a natural meeting of two practices built around curiosity and unexpected connections. While Anrealage has spent its Paris years testing how technology can transform the physical experience of clothing, Andelman has consistently approached retail and curation as opportunities to bring disparate creative disciplines into conversation. JUST AN REAL AGE gives both instincts room to operate, positioning the retrospective somewhere between archive, laboratory, installation, and shop.

JUST AN REAL AGE is free and open to the public through October 5 at Galerie Perrotin, 76 rue de Turenne in Paris.
