Limited-Edition Sneakers Available Starting December 13
Auralee and New Balance are set to release their latest collaboration, the Auralee × New Balance MADE in USA 990v4, on Friday, December 13. First revealed at Paris Men’s Fashion Week in January 2024, the sneaker reimagines the iconic 990 silhouette with a contemporary approach to color and materials. This release marks the first MADE in USA installment in the partnership between the two brands since 2019.
The original 990, launched in 1982, was created as the “single best running shoe on the market.” With its understated grey colorway and a then-unprecedented three-figure price tag, the 990 became a status symbol for runners and tastemakers alike. The MADE in USA 990v4, introduced in 2016, refined the model further, building on the modernization introduced with the v3. This version retained the premium pigskin suede and mesh upper, featured in a classic navy colorway.
For this collaboration, Auralee and New Balance have updated the 990v4 with new materials, colors, and design details. The sneakers incorporate a mix of nubuck, mesh, and suede, delivering a layered tonal depth. The taupe version features accents in dusty blue, while the dusty blue variant includes a lime green pop, adding subtle vibrancy to the minimalist design. A custom-designed shoe box completes the offering.
“This sneaker is a modern expression of Japanese and American craftsmanship, resonating with a new generation of urbanites,” said a joint statement from the collaborators. The collaborative release underscores the enduring appeal of the 990, a design that New Balance has consistently produced since its original debut.
The Auralee × New Balance MADE in USA 990v4 will be available at select global retailers, bringing together the heritage of the 990 with Auralee’s refined aesthetic.
