The Expansion Further Solidifies the Brand’s Significant Foothold in Paris’ Golden Triangle Shopping District
Balenciaga has unveiled plans to open a second flagship store on Avenue Montaigne, further solidifying its foothold in this iconic area. The move further solidifies the brand’s presence in Paris’ prestigious Golden Triangle shopping district, where it already has a sizable foothold.
Scheduled to open next year at No. 56, the new store will be located across the street from Balenciaga’s current flagship at No. 57. The chosen location is strategic, as it occupies a prominent position on the tree-lined avenue, nestled between large boutiques of other luxury brands like Gucci and Dolce & Gabbana, with Jacquemus nearby.
Previously, No. 56 housed separate boutiques for Jil Sander and Blumarine. Balenciaga’s existing flagship at 57 Avenue Montaigne was inaugurated in 2017, and was the second store opened under the creative direction of Demna, who took the helm of the brand’s creative endeavors in October 2015.
Prior to the expansion on Avenue Montaigne, Balenciaga completed its “grand return” to nearby Avenue George V, a location deeply intertwined with the brand’s history. Founder Cristóbal Balenciaga established his couture house on Avenue George V in 1937. Last year, the Kering-owned brand enlarged its couture salons at 10 Avenue George V by expanding to No. 12, augmenting the space with new offices.
Now, Balenciaga has finalized the restoration and expansion of its creative headquarters, extending its presence to No. 7 Avenue George V. This creative hub accommodates Demna’s design studio and teams, alongside the Balenciaga couture and ready-to-wear ateliers. The iconic No. 10 address remains dedicated entirely to couture.
