Where Marigolds Grow
Review of Bevza Spring 2024 Fashion Show

THE VIBE
THE THEME
Many years ago, Svitlana Bevza was given by her grandfather a sachet of marigold seeds, and has planted them on her balcony every year since – at least until the war in Ukraine forced her to leave her home in Kyiv. Seeing in this flower (which has a natural range that extends across much of the globe) a symbol of delicateness resilience and growth, the designer infused her practice of soulful, sustainable minimalism with subtle nods to this floral iconography.
THE BUZZWORDS
Purity. Resilience. Rebirth. Soulfulness.

THE SHOWSTOPPER
Look # 14
As Bevza’s fans gravitate toward the brand’s characteristic and consistent use of white, this blazing marigold dress formed a mid-collection shock to the senses – in the best way possible.

THE DIRECTION
While floral prints and bold colors are out of character for the brand, the use of natural symbolism is not. Though the designer assured us this won’t become a common practice, the timing felt right for this colorful detour that sent a message of optimism. It’s also exciting to see the brand add handbags, as well as evolving it’s signature spikelet jewelry.
THE QUOTE
![](https://theimpression.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/dan00270-11101138-1.jpg)
It’s not about the flowers, it’s about the meaning. Here it means a love of homeland and a sense of revival. Daydreaming of a peaceful tomorrow, cherishing our roots, and letting it sprout in a different way.”
– Svitlana Bevza
THE WRAP UP
While guiding the brand forward with new categories and visual motifs, Bevza reinterprets the timeless language of flowers with a youthful feeling of hope to offer soulful sanctuary and an optimistic message of growth.
