Review of Calvin Klein Sportswear Spring 2021 Ad Campaign by Creative Director Cedric Murac and Photographer Luis Alberto Rodriguez, with models Valentin Humbroich, Jade Nguyen, and Sarah Saxinger
Calvin Klein takes a time out to consider the essential intersection of body and clothing in a new campaign shot by Creative Director Cedric Murac and photographer Luis Alberto Rodriguez.
Though it highlights pieces from the brand’s sportswear collections, the campaign feels relaxed and expressive, taking the idea of sportswear more as a cue to explore the body and its freedom of motion rather than explicit athleticism. Rodriguez’s photographs are full of character and a thoughtful consideration of the body.
Shooting in both color and black and white, he elegantly draws out the unique beauty of each of his models. His focus on details and use of unexpected angles and compositions joyfully brings the campaign to life.
At once refined and casual, the campaign is a strong statement of Calvin Klein’s thoughtful approach to creating functional staples geared towards the everyday beauty of life.
