Casablanca unveils their first ever womenswear collection with a capsule exclusively available at Net-a-Porter.
Charaf Tajer, the creative director who founded the house in 2018, loves the duality suggested by his après sport inspiration. His designs are luxurious but liberating, athletic but leisurely, and these combinations are colorfully informed by his dual French and Moroccan heritage. The brand has received much love for its menswear recently, from selling out its collaboration with New Balance to being named as a 2020 LVMH prize finalist.
The capsule collection is Casablanca’s first foray into women’s wear, and the shift seems effortless. Star pieces from the Casablanca Tennis Club are reimagined in feminine silhouettes and constructed with new fabrics and prints. Entirely new pieces make their debut as well, with Casablanca’s signature colorful and 70’s-inspired style running throughout.
There has always been strong feminine sensibility running through the Casablanca DNA, so launching a dedicated womenswear collection makes total sense for us. When I designed this collection I had an intelligent, visionary woman in mind – her femininity is her strength, but she can embrace the beauty of the masculine too.
– Charaf Tajer, Founder/Creative Director Casablanca
The collection is captured in a photography campaign by Rémi Ferrante shot in northern Italy’s Lake Garda with Camille Hurel and Goldie Boutilier (who performs music as Goldilox). The serenity of the natural world compliments the greens, pinks, and oranges of the collection, while a stately villa echoes the elegant and relaxed confidence of these Casablanca women, whose you-can’t-sit-with-us gaze only makes us more intrigued.
