Hedi Slimane continues his portrait series for Celine with his latest “Portrait of an Actress,” featuring rising star Lily McInerny.
The visual approach follows in the footsteps of Slimane’s previous Portrait campaigns – which recently have included Blake Richardson, Owen Teague, and Corey Fogelmanis – with an approach of polished and chic yet subtly soulful minimalism.
The creative director styles the young talent with an eye for contrast, pairing twee cropped knitwear with an oversized leather jacket or a fluid and feminine blouse with a banker-stripe blazer.
Celine’s ongoing Portrait of an Artist series is particularly strong in the way it balances newness with consistency: each installment is another confident statement of Slimane’s low-key yet polished Parisian luxury cool, yet this design perspective takes on new personality and perspective in conversation with each talent who embodies it anew. Focused, striking, and stylish, this latest chapter is another strong example of this ever-evolving practice.
