Chanel has unveiled its latest Summer Readings selection, curated by Librairie 7L, the Paris bookstore founded by Karl Lagerfeld in 1999 and acquired by the House in 2021. Continuing its literary programming, the seasonal edit celebrates the work of four women whose voices span centuries, disciplines, and cultures.
The curated selection brings together The Pillow Book by 11th-century Japanese court writer Sei Shônagon, the poetry of American singer-songwriter Joan Baez, stories by Belgian novelist and psychoanalyst Jacqueline Harpman, and a biography of photographer and war correspondent Lee Miller written by her son, Antony Penrose.
United by their distinct perspectives rather than a single theme, the books trace journeys through literature, poetry, memory, and history, inviting readers to move between intimate reflection and broader cultural narratives.
