Chloé announces that Chemena Kamali joins the Maison as Creative Director

Chloé officially announced today the appointment of renowned German designer, Chemena Kamali, as its new Creative Director. Kamali, born in Germany in 1981, boasts an impressive background in the fashion industry, which includes a Master of Arts in Fashion from Central Saint Martin’s University of the Arts in London where she graduated with distinction in 2007.

Having previously served Chloé under both Phoebe Philo and Clare Waight Keller, Kamali’s reappointment at the Maison marks a significant and symbolic return for both the designer and the brand. Her extensive experience also includes her role as Women’s Ready to Wear Design Director for Anthony Vaccarello at Saint Laurent since 2016.

Riccardo Bellini, President & CEO of Chloé, expressed his confidence and excitement about Kamali’s return. “I am proud to welcome Chemena Kamali to Chloé. Her extraordinary creative talent, extensive experience and unique connection with the brand’s legacy and values make her a natural choice for the Maison. Chemena’s vision, inspired by her love for the brand, will truly celebrate Chloé’s unique DNA. Chemena is both the Creative Director of Chloé and the embodiment of the Chloé spirit. I am excited to see her vision come to life.”

For Kamali, this appointment holds personal significance. “Returning to Chloé feels like a natural step. I’m honored to continue the vision set by Gaby Aghion and Karl Lagerfeld, and I am eager to build on it,” she said, expressing her gratitude to Chloé’s leadership for the opportunity.

Philippe Fortunato, CEO of the Fashion and Accessories division at Richemont, Chloé’s parent company, also welcomed Kamali’s return, highlighting her deep connection and passion for the brand.

Fashion enthusiasts and Chloé fans can eagerly anticipate Kamali’s debut with the brand’s pre-collection presentation in Paris this coming January 2024. Furthermore, her Fall-Winter 2024 collection will be showcased during Paris Fashion Week in February 2024.
