Stylist and artistic director Colin King has joined independent fashion-arts publication Cultured Magazine as Design Editor-at-Large.
In King’s new monthly column, ‘Quick Study,’ he plans to “hold a mirror” to the state of design and to designers themselves, asking them to reflect on the ways that our culture filters through their work. There will also be conversations with artists, directors, musicians, and creatives of all stripes who spend time thinking about space and their role within it. The inaugural column features an interview with Rosanna Orlandi, acclaimed as Italy’s ‘signora of design’.
A top interiors stylist for the world’s leading brands and publications, King’s practice was captured in his first design book, Arranging Things, published by Rizzoli in 2023. Through his founding of Colin King Studio, he has since developed collections for a range of brands from The Future Perfect to Audo Copenhagen. King’s distinctly perceptive eye also envisions both collections and artistic campaigns for Beni Rugs, a breakout star in the international design scene, where he serves as Artistic Director-at-Large. He applies a dancer’s sense of movement and stillness to all that he does, creating arresting imagery that turns aesthetics into movements and transforms emotions through the power of artful arrangement.
