Dior and the Brooklyn Artists Ball: Celebrating Artistic Legacy Together

Dior-Sponsored Event Draws Celebrities and Art Lovers to Celebrate Visual Artist Titus Kaphar

The Brooklyn Museum’s 13th annual Brooklyn Artists Ball, held at its iconic location in New York City, brought together a constellation of stars from the art and entertainment worlds. Sponsored by Dior, the event honored the contributions of visual artist and filmmaker Titus Kaphar, whose work has played a significant role in the museum’s exhibitions and its permanent collection.

Titus Kaphar, celebrated for his thought-provoking artwork that often explores themes of racial and social justice, was the guest of honor. Kaphar’s impactful pieces, such as “Shifting the Gaze” and contributions to the exhibit “The Legacy of Lynching: Confronting Racial Terror in America,” have cemented his place in the art community. His latest piece is featured in the museum’s current exhibit “Giants,” showcasing works from the collection of Alicia Keys and Kasseem Dean (Swizz Beatz).

The evening kicked off with a cocktail hour that included a performance by the Brooklyn United Music and Arts Program, with a marching band presenting flags adorned with Titus Kaphar’s artwork. The dinner, set in the museum’s Beaux Arts Court, boasted décor inspired by Kaphar’s key works, underlining the night’s celebration of his artistry.

Among the high-profile attendees were Dior Women’s Creative Director Maria Grazia Chiuri, actors Rosamund Pike, Naomi Watts, Thomas Doherty, Antonia Gentry, Kristine Froseth, Rebecca Hall, Aria Mia Loberti, Morgan Spector, Isabelle Fuhrman, and artist Mickalene Thomas. The dinner culminated in a special performance by Little Simz, whose lyrical prowess added a memorable layer to the evening’s festivities.

The event concluded with the Artist Ball After Party, featuring Swizz Beatz, a producer, rapper, and Brooklyn Museum Trustee, ensuring the celebration continued into the night with a vibrant showcase of music and artistry.
