Fashion PR Veteran Sarah Bonello Launches New Brand The Park

The Park Offers a Collection of Base Layeres Designed to Complement Other Designer Pieces

After two decades in public relations, Sarah Bonello is launching her own line of base layers called The Park, available for preorder starting Thursday. The line is designed to complement outfits by other designers, offering items like skirted leggings, tube dresses, catsuits, bodysuits, T-shirts, bralettes, and outerwear underwear in black, navy, or camel colors.

Bonello, who recently moved from New York to Los Angeles, drew inspiration for The Park from her experiences in the fashion industry. She noted, “Someone in their 20s can love this as much as someone in their 60s or 70s… I know as a 20-year-old working at Dan Klores, running around, I would have taken this dress and worn it six different ways and gone out at night and maybe gone to work the next morning in it. And now I’m 50, and I’m still wearing it,” referring to The Park’s black long-sleeve Elizabeth dress.

Her collection is influenced by the 1980s New York fashion scene, particularly the all-black stretchy clothing worn by fashion icon Norma Kamali. Bonello’s COVID-19 “aha” moment came when she rediscovered an old pair of fold-over skirted leggings and felt the need to create similar pieces due to their comfort and versatility.

The Park’s hero style, the Joy skirted legging, was born from this inspiration and has garnered attention, even being worn by Bonello to Paris Fashion Week with a Chanel sweater.

The collection is being produced in Los Angeles with a focus on sustainability, using materials like micro Tencel and recycled elastane. Pieces are priced between $210 to $500 and are available for preorder on theparkfashion.com, Elyse Walker, and Switch stores.

Preorders are now open for items like the Joy skirted legging, Lia baby T-shirt, Elizabeth long-sleeve midi dress, and Donna bodysuit, with deliveries expected in September. Additional styles will be released in October and for the holiday season, including the Liat mock neck bodysuit, tube dress, and wide-leg pant.

Bonello shared her motivation for creating The Park, explaining, “I really went into this because me and my friends who are all busy… you could have a closet full of clothes, whether they’re from H&M or Chanel, and not know what to wear. Sometimes I’ll wake up and want to wear that colorful blazer I got from Libertine, but I don’t know what to wear with, right? I wanted to create something that would answer that question.”
