Sarah Burton is bringing one of Givenchy’s most recognizable footwear designs into her expanding creative vocabulary with the Shark Pinch Boot.
The reworked style preserves the commanding shape of the original Shark while extending its line to the thigh. Presented on the runway in six variations, the boot moved between tailoring and eveningwear, positioning it as a central styling device within Burton’s Givenchy wardrobe.
Its significance reaches beyond a single product launch. The Shark gives Burton an established house signature; the Pinch supplies a code developed during her own tenure. Their combination reveals how the designer is creating a more cohesive identity across categories.
A New Cross-Category Signature
The metal Pinch hardware originated with the Pinch bag, introduced during Burton’s first season at the house. Inspired by the gestures of cutting, folding and fitting, the detail references her approach to tailoring.
