'The Loafer Since 1953' 2024 Ad Campaign

Review of Gucci ‘The Loafer Since 1953’ 2024 Ad Campaign by Art Director Riccardo Zanloa and Photographer Heji Shin with model Pietro Castellitto

Gucci continues its artful celebration of an enduring style icon with another campaign that spotlights its signature Horsebit 1953 loafer. The campaign stars Italian actor Pietro Castelitto captured by photographer Heji Shin.

The imagery picks up on the thread established in one of Sabato De Sarno’s very first and most recognizable campaigns for the house, which featured Paul Mescal, and has since been followed by other chapters featuring distinctive and creative men in relaxed moments of intimate earnestness.

Castelitto brings his own perspective and personality to this approach, exuding a since of reflection and quite playfulness. Shin captures him in an interior space that feels like an artist’s studio, with simple and sophisticated styling emphasizing the star accessory.

Gucci’s loafers are one of the house’s most enduring and iconic brand staples. The series-format campaign is a great way to create a steady, cross-season marketing rhythm, wisely drawing on distinctive personalities while maintaining visual immediacy to consistently champion a driving force for the brand.
