Hugo started to design and think about clothes when he was studying architecture and has had a strong desire to interpret his images into clothing and work out how to translate them in this medium ever since.
Hugo contacted Lois as an admirer of her work, in particular with knitwear, and the idea to collaborate naturally developed from there.
‘Dear Nikita’ is a very feminine and sexy offering with a POP feel and colour palette, but moved into a more arty and intellectual arena.
Knitwear was a key inspiration and focus and the desire to translate Hugo’s work into the prints themselves.
Nikita is the imaginary muse who inspired the collection. She is the ultimate woman; sexy and masculine, powerful and strong with deep intentions. Women have always been at the centre of Hugo’s artistic vision and Nikita is the perfect representation of the character that is loved by both Hugo and Lois.
